I'm a huge fan of old music and Stax-era Staple Singers are high on my list of great music of the 70s. So you can imagine my exciting at discovering that Mavis Staples of the Staple Singers would be opening this year's SummerStage festival on June 13th. Her voice is as soulful in the baptist church sense and her songs make me wish I was in love for real. Counting down the days... can't wait!
